大覚寺 DAIKAKU-JI (TEMPLE)

真言宗大覚寺派大本山です。嵯峨天皇離宮嵯峨院」を、空海が寺に改めたのが始まりです。
t is the main temple of Daikakuji school, Shingon Sect. "Saga-in" the Imperial villa of Emperor Saga was converted to the temple by Kukai.

大沢池 OSAWA-no-IKE (POND)

大沢池周辺は嵐山ほど人が多くないので、落ち着いた気分でゆったり散策するにはおすすめです。
There are not so many people around Osawa pond unlike central Arashiyama then it is better to take a walk for relaxing around the pond.

It is the place where Matsuo Basho wrote "Saga diary".

桂川 KATSURA-GAWA (RIVER)

渡月橋の上流側では、保津川大堰川(おおいがわ)という呼ばれ方もされます。行政上の正式名称は上流、下流に関係なく桂川です。
On the upstream side of Togetsukyo Bridge, it is also called Hozu River or Ooi River. The official name is Katsura-gawa regardless of upstream or downstream.
